A concrete example

Register each shared data element with a stable identifier, steward, definition, conceptual and representation domains, status, version, classification, and mappings, then expose a governed subset to schemas and catalogs.

Why it matters: Stable, administered definitions and mappings reduce feature ambiguity and schema drift, but registry conformance does not establish data quality, representativeness, or fitness for a model.

Complements DCAT dataset catalogs, DataCite publication metadata, domain terminologies, and SHACL validation by governing the registered items those systems reference.
